Shanti Communication
School (SCS) collaborated with The Florida State University (FSU),College of
Communication and Information to collaborate and enrich the domain of
communication in a significant manner.
Prof Steve McDowell, Director
of the School of Communication at Florida State University in Tallahassee,
Florida, visited Shanti Business School campus on July 7th 2012 in
connection with tie up SBS/SCS.
Prof. McDowell was
welcomed to the campus SBS Dean, Prof. Alan D’Souza, Executive Director, Prof.
Bala Bhaskaran and faculty members. They shared and discussed their areas of
academic and research interests to explore domains of mutual interest and
opportunities to collaborate. Prof. McDowell mentioned the growing relevance of
marketing communication, transparency and accountability, innovation and entrepreneurship
amongst the American universities and policy makers which caught the interest of
academic team of SBS. SBS and FSU
discussed platforms of exchange beyond the conventional areas like student
faculty exchange to offering each others’ courses and academic programs at
their respective campuses.

of Prof. Steve McDowell.:
Prof.Stephen D.
McDowell serves as Director of the School of Communication at Florida State
University in Tallahassee, Florida, United States, where he has taught since 1996.
He also serves as the co-director of the FSU Institute for Intercultural
Communication and Research, as Chair of the Academic Subcommittee for the FSU
Global Pathways Certificate program, and on the FSU International Activities
Advisory Committee.
Prof.McDowell
has conducted research on media and communication policies in India and
Pakistan, and has made presentations to universities and/or worked to establish
university contacts, special programs, and/or academic exchange partnerships
in China, South Korea, Jamaica, the Netherlands, Thailand, India,
and Pakistan. His research and teaching interests address media policies
and new communication technologies, Internet governance, international and
intercultural communication, and communication policies in Canada, South Asia,
and North America.
